What To Expect

Kerry’s passion is to make a difference in your life and ensure that therapy gives you the coping skills to deal with the challenges and crises that are part of life. When you call, Kerry will pick up and assess your needs to see if you can benefit from therapy. If you both decide that maybe another therapist will be a better fit, Kerry can provide you with a referral as well. If Kerry is away from her desk, please leave a VM, and she will make sure to call you back because this is a solo practice, and you are guaranteed to speak with Kerry when you call.

Remember, you are the expert in your life. How often you seek therapy solely depends on your needs. Kerry will encourage you to always put your needs first, and therapy will be tailored to your needs.

New Clients

Should call 334 539 8051 to set up the first appointment. You can also contact me via the contact page on this site. And you can also use this secure, online appointment booking system. During the initial call, Kerry will ask to briefly explain your situation and provide insurance information. Please ask any questions you may have. When you arrive for your first appointment, you will first fill out paperwork, then you will meet with Kerry for about one hour to discuss the reason you believe that therapy can help, and you will have the opportunity to answer questions regarding your medical, physical, lifestyle, background, emotional, and spiritual needs, etc. Since we now use only Telehealth as a medium for therapy, please make sure to also check the ” Client Quick Start Guide” and to fill out the remainder of the “Intake Forms Online” at the bottom of this page.

Established Clients

May use this secure, online appointment booking system with a user ID and password.

You can use it to schedule a visit or change an existing one. This online service is designed to schedule non-emergency appointments only. If you are experiencing an emergency in which life, health, or property is in danger, please call 911 or another emergency response service immediately.

Consultation

I offer a free 15-minute consultation via phone, so you can get a sense of whether we have a good match. It is also an opportunity for me to decide whether or not I will be able to help you. Regretfully, we do not accept payment from Medicaid insurance sources.

Post-master’s Supervision

As a Clinical Independent Social Worker, I can provide a minimum of 4 hours per month of post-master’s supervision for 24 months within a 36-month period, which is required for LICSW applicants. Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners Administrative Code 850-X-3-.02-2
*Only applicable to LMSWs who intend to apply for the LICSW. Supervision for Alabama and Arizona is on hold right now.

Insurance Accepted

How Out-of-Network Reimbursement Works:
I do not bill insurance companies directly, but I can provide you with a Superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit for potential reimbursement.
3 Steps to Check Your Benefits:
Call your insurer: Dial the member services number on the back of your card.
Ask about OON benefits: Ask, “Does my plan cover out-of-network reimbursement for CPT codes (90791: Intake or Psychiatric Evaluation and 90837: Up to 60 minutes Psychotherapy session)”?
Confirm your deductible: Ask if you have an out-of-network deductible that must be met before they start sending you checks.
The Process:
Payment: You pay the full session fee at the time of service.
Superbill: At the end of each month or session, you can retrieve a Superbill via the client portal.
Submission: You upload that document to your insurance portal/app or via mail.
Payment to You: If eligible, your insurance company will mail a reimbursement check directly to you.

Insurance Information

Clients are encouraged to consider the benefits of self-pay, including confidentiality of information/records. Also, many insurance companies retain the right to determine the length of treatment, which may not meet the client’s needs. For those seeking partial reimbursement of their therapy fee, it may be possible to submit a bill to their insurance provider. When using out-of-network benefits, clients will be provided with a monthly statement to submit to their insurance company.

Clients are asked to contact their insurance company’s Member Services Department prior to their initial appointment to ask how they can be reimbursed for an “out of network” provider. It is the client’s responsibility to understand their insurance company’s policy and to find out what percentage their out-of-network provider will cover for psychotherapy.

Regretfully, we do not accept payment from Medicaid and Medicare. Please visit the Medicare website to learn more about available resources.

Payment

Therapy sessions are scheduled for up to 60 minutes (Insurances pay up to 50 minutes) Monies owed (copayment, deductible, self-payment) are due at the time of service.

Payment for services is due at the beginning of each session.
Credit or Debit Card accepted for payment at the time of service.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is held for you. For all counseling sessions (individual, couples, or group) there is a 24 hour cancellation notice. Contact Soul-Affirming Counseling at 334.539.8051 or through the secure contact form. If a cancellation occurs within less than 24 hours or you are “no call/no show,” you will be charged $145 for the whole session since your insurance does not cover this.
